Marketing for Schools and Nurseries in Qatar

Parents in Qatar search for schools about 10,500 times a month in English. They then take months to decide. Most advertising accounts are set up to measure a decision made in days.

At a glance

  • Large demand. 10,500 English searches a month across the four main school and nursery terms.
  • A long decision. Parents research, visit and compare over months, which default ad settings do not capture.
  • Nurseries are a separate market. 1,000 searches a month, at a lower click price than the school terms.
  • No Arabic. None of the seven school sites we measured had Arabic on the page.

What parents in Qatar search for

These are the main school and nursery searches in Qatar and what a click costs.

Search termSearches a monthCost per click
schools in qatar6,600$0.86
international school qatar1,900$0.80
nursery qatar1,000$0.68
british school qatar1,000$0.98

Semrush, Qatar database, September 2026. Estimates — treat the ordering as reliable and the absolute figures as approximate.

“Schools in qatar” alone gets 6,600 searches a month. Directories, league tables and large school groups hold the top unpaid results for it, so paid search is the quickest way to appear when parents are comparing.

Nursery searches come earlier in a family's journey. A parent choosing a nursery now is often choosing a school in two or three years, so a nursery campaign also builds your future school list.

Why school advertising in Qatar is hard to judge

We measured seven international schools and one nursery in Qatar that were advertising at the time.

  1. The decision outlasts the measurement. Google Ads credits a conversion for up to 90 days after a click. An enrolment often comes later, so the search that started a family's shortlist gets no credit.
  2. Branded searches take the credit. The last search before an enquiry is usually the school's own name. That search would likely have happened anyway, so it makes branded ads look better than they are.
  3. The nursery we measured had no tracking. It was running 46 live ads with no analytics, conversion tag or pixel on the page.

The schools themselves mostly had tracking working: six of the seven fired tags on a normal visit. What was missing was Arabic, on all seven. Here is how we measured these sites.

Advertising for a decision that takes months

01

The shortlist stage

Searches: “schools in qatar”, “international school qatar”, curriculum searches such as “british school qatar”.

Aim: get onto the family's shortlist.

Lands on: a page that answers curriculum, fees policy, location and available year groups.

02

The visit stage

What we count: a booked campus visit or tour, as the main conversion.

Why: a visit happens within weeks, inside the 90-day window, and it predicts enrolment far better than a form fill.

What you get: a cost per booked visit.

03

The nursery campaign

Searches: “nursery qatar” and area searches, run separately.

Aim: reach families before the school decision exists.

What you get: nursery enrolments now, and a list of families for later.

Telling apart advertising that caused an enrolment from advertising that only appeared before one is covered in incrementality testing versus media mix modelling.

Admissions, ownership and language

  • Admissions has a season. Budget should follow your own enquiry calendar, heavier when families are deciding, rather than an even monthly split.
  • Group-owned schools. Several schools we measured belong to international groups, where the website is often managed outside Qatar. We establish early who can change the tracking.
  • Arabic-speaking families. «مدارس قطر» gets 590 searches a month. None of the school sites we measured had an Arabic page for them.

Common questions

Our enrolment cycle is months long. Can advertising even be measured?

Yes, if you measure the right step. Google Ads credits a conversion for up to 90 days after a click, and many enrolments take longer. So we set the window to 90 days and count the booked campus visit as the main conversion, because it happens sooner and predicts enrolment well.

How much does school advertising cost in Qatar?

School search clicks cost between 68 and 98 cents on the main terms. On top of the media budget there is our management fee, quoted separately. The budget follows your admissions calendar, so it is rarely the same every month.

Should we advertise the school or specific year groups?

Start with the entry points: nursery, reception, and any year group with places. Broad school searches are competitive. Entry-point searches reach parents when the decision is live.

We are part of an international group. Does that change anything?

Often, yes. Several group-owned schools we measured have websites managed outside Qatar, so the local team cannot change the tracking. We want to know who owns the website before we propose anything.
